Social Media

We are now making more use of social media than ever before. You can find us on Facebook, Twitter and Flickr where we share news updates, events and pictures, which are available to buy. More importantly, it’s a great way for us to interact with you. Please give us a Like or Follow and share our posts to help us spread the word.

How we use social media

We use social media to share news, information, events and pictures. It’s a great way to interact with residents, and we always try to respond to replies, comments and direct messages during office hours. Even if we do not reply, we are listening and will act on or pass on your comments as appropriate. As our accounts are managed by the communications team, it may be better in some cases – especially if you have a specific enquiry - to contact services directly through Carmarthenshire Direct - direct@carmarthenshire.gov.uk.

If you are a member of the media, please contact us through our online form or call 01267 224037.

Please be aware that you will not be able to interact with our Twitter accounts if your Twitter account is protected. See Twitter Help here.

Who we follow

We may choose to follow, like or establish connections with other organisations and individuals using social media to keep up to date with their news and sometimes share important information that residents need to be aware of. To enable us to monitor their messages effectively, we cannot follow or like a large number of other people as we would risk missing key messages. On rare occasions, we may need to establish a connection so that we can engage with users via direct messages. Otherwise, please do not be offended if we don’t follow or like you back.

We have no fixed approach on who we follow or like, but as a guide, the connections may include:

  • Public, private and voluntary sector partner organisations
  • Community organisations and campaigning groups
  • Media and journalists
  • Any other commentators or opinion formers that we may want to follow

We do not implicitly or explicitly endorse any individual or organisation by creating a social media connection, nor do we hold any responsibility for the content of such profiles.
